Education Commissioner Unveils Reforms, Announces SOP Revamp, Warns Against Unethical Conduct - Anambra Ministry of Education

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education,Dr Ekene Ogugua has announced a comprehensive reform agenda for the state’s education sector, including the revamping of the Ministry’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while warning education officers against unethical and unprofessional conduct.

The Commissioner disclosed this during a familiarisation meeting with Zonal and Area Education Officers, where he said the gathering was convened to acquaint the officers with the Ministry’s new direction and expectations.

He told the officers that the era of conducting official business in the old manner was over, stressing that the Ministry was charting a new course that would require a different approach to service delivery, accountability and professionalism.

According to him, the Ministry would review and revamp its existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develop a new operational framework to improve efficiency, ensure uniformity and strengthen service delivery across the education sector.

Expressing dissatisfaction with reports of unethical practices brought to his attention, the Commissioner described such conduct as unacceptable and unprofessional, warning that officers found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary measures.

He urged the education officers to key into Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s education agenda, noting that they occupy strategic positions in driving government policies and reforms at the grassroots level.

The Commissioner reminded the officers that the Governor receives regular reports on activities across the state and therefore expects every education officer to demonstrate integrity, transparency and diligence in the discharge of their duties.

The Commissioner restated the Ministry’s commitment to working with dedicated officers to transform the education sector, urging them to protect the image of the Ministry through their actions while warning that anyone who undermines the reform agenda would be held accountable.
