PENSAN Seeks Stronger Partnership with Education Ministry, Commends Ogugua’s Reforms - Anambra Ministry of Education

The Private Education Network of Schools Association of Nigeria (PENSAN), Anambra State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Mr. Christian Nwanosike, has paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, seeking stronger collaboration with the Ministry in advancing education in the state

Nwanosike, who led members of the association to the Commissioner’s office, expressed appreciation to Ogugua for granting them audience and creating an opportunity for meaningful interaction. He commended the Commissioner for what he described as some of the giant strides recorded since his assumption of office, noting that PENSAN was interested in maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with the Ministry.

The PENSAN chairman said regular engagement between private school operators and the Ministry was important for addressing challenges in the sector, improving understanding of government policies and ensuring that private schools continued to contribute meaningfully to educational development in Anambra. He also expressed the association’s readiness to work with the Ministry and support initiatives aimed at improving standards.

Responding, Commissioner Ogugua assured PENSAN of the Ministry’s openness to dialogue and partnership with private school proprietors, stressing that government’s objective was not to frustrate private education providers but to ensure compliance with established standards. He urged schools to ensure proper registration and accurate documentation, noting that reliable data would assist government in effective planning and monitoring of the education sector.

Ogugua also clarified the Ministry’s position on graduation ceremonies, explaining that the concern was not about preventing schools from celebrating their pupils and students, but about protecting parents from excessive or compulsory financial demands associated with such ceremonies.

He urged PENSAN members to continue engaging the Ministry whenever they required clarification on policies, assuring them that constructive collaboration remained essential to building a stronger education system in Anambra State.
