    What began as an official courtesy visit quickly transformed into a heartwarming reunion as members of the Applied Biochemistry Students Association (ABSA), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Class of 2008, visited the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Lon. Ogugua, at his office in Awka.
    The delegation was led by Mrs. Margaret Onuoha, representing the Interim President of the association, Chief Kingsley O. Obi. The visit blended official protocol with genuine camaraderie as former classmates reunited to celebrate one of their own.
    Delivering the Interim President’s address, Mrs. Onuoha conveyed Chief Obi’s congratulations to Dr. Ogugua on his appointment by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, describing it as a proud milestone for the ABSA 2008 family and the wider Nnamdi Azikiwe University community.
    She said the visit was more than a courtesy call but a homecoming celebrating a classmate whose journey from university lecture halls to academic excellence, professional accomplishment and public service continues inspiring colleagues nearly two decades after graduation.
    Mrs. Onuoha assured the commissioner of the association’s unwavering support throughout his tenure, pledging that members would willingly contribute their knowledge, experience and professional expertise to complement Anambra State Government’s education transformation agenda.
    As a symbol of enduring friendship and appreciation, the alumni presented Dr. Ogugua with a Radof water dispenser as a commemorative gift, describing it as a token of love, solidarity and confidence in his capacity to advance education in Anambra State.
    Responding, Dr. Ogugua expressed delight at receiving his former classmates, saying the reunion reminded him that friendships forged in the classrooms and laboratories of Nnamdi Azikiwe University had remained strong despite time, distance and professional responsibilities.
    He thanked the alumni for their thoughtful gesture, prayers and encouragement, describing their support as deeply motivating. The commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to purposeful leadership and invited them to remain partners in advancing quality education across the state.
    The visit ended with warm conversations, shared memories, handshakes and group photographs, underscoring the enduring bond among the ABSA 2008 alumni and demonstrating that genuine friendships nurtured in the classroom continue to flourish through public service.
