Anambra Moves to Strengthen Digital Education Through ICT Teachers’ Collaboration - Anambra Ministry of Education

The Anambra State Ministry of Education is set to strengthen collaboration with ICT teachers as part of efforts to advance digital education and improve teaching and learning across the state.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, stated this when the executives of the Anambra State ICT Teachers Association paid a courtesy visit to him in his office at the State Secretariat Complex, Awka.

Ogugua commended the teachers for coming together under one association, noting that the platform would make communication and engagement between the Ministry and ICT teachers across the state easier and more effective.

He said the Ministry was ready to work with the association to drive digital transformation in education, stressing that technology had become increasingly important to the future of teaching and learning.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the Ministry would explore the possibility of establishing ICT hubs across the 21 Local Government Areas to improve schools’ access to e-learning facilities, digital tools and other technology resources.

He assured the teachers of opportunities for capacity building and said ICT teachers would also be considered as resource persons during ICT training programmes for teachers, in line with the administration’s commitment to inclusiveness across the education sector.

Earlier, the leader of the ICT team, Mr. Victor Nwaduba, congratulated Ogugua on his appointment by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and expressed the association’s willingness to support initiatives that would advance ICT education in Anambra.

Nwaduba appealed for government’s support in addressing challenges affecting ICT teachers and the effective delivery of ICT education, particularly electricity supply, internet connectivity, access to digital tools and continuous professional development.

He also called for ICT teachers to be trained on the new ICT curriculum and included as resource persons in government-organised ICT training programmes, noting that their practical experience could contribute significanltly to effective classroom delivery.

The engagement is expected to strengthen the capacity of ICT teachers, improve access to digital learning resources and create a more technology-driven learning environment, ultimately helping schools provide students with the digital skills needed for the future.
