The Anambra State Ministry of Education has officially flagged off the selection of nominees to represent the state at the 2026 Presidential Teachers’ Excellence Awards scheduled for October.
Addressing the proposed nominees at the State Secretariat Complex, Awka, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua congratulated them for emerging among the outstanding teachers nominated from schools across the state.
He described the nominees as the heroes of the moment emphasizing that being nominated is, in itself, a remarkable achievement worthy of celebration, regardless of the final selection outcome
Expressing confidence in Anambra’s chances, Dr. Ogugua recalled the state’s outstanding performance at the 2025 awards, where it won 9 out of the 15 national awards and expressed optimism that the state would repeat and even surpass the feat this year.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the Presidential Teachers’ Excellence Awards, Dr Bibiana Okoli explained that only 15 nominees would eventually represent Anambra, with the final selection based on the stipulated assessment criteria.
The Presidential Teachers’ Excellence Awards is an annual event held to commemorate World Teachers’ Day in Nigeria and celebrate educators who have distinguished themselves through excellence, dedication, and impactful service.
