Head teachers in Anambra State have resolved to support Commissioner Ngozi Chuma-Udeh’s drive to return primary education to it’s position as the bedrock of any meaningful academic pursuit.
Speaking the minds of headteachers in Anambra State, the State Chairman, Association of Primary Schools Head teachers of NIGERIA (AOPSHON), Mrs. Ifeoma Nwankwo eulogized Commissioner Ngozi Chuma-Udeh for the unique strategies she has adopted in bringing back the good old days of primary education in Anambra State.
Mrs. Nwankwo whose position was corroborated by the Ogbaru LGA branch of AOPSHON, Mr. Ikpeani Joseph, pledged the support of Head teachers to all the programmes of Governor Chukwuma Soludo geared towards making schools attractive to the children.
She noted that the pre-resumption meeting introduced by Prof. Chuma-Udeh would serve as a veritable platform for exchange of ideas for the actualization of Gov. Soludo’s mandate in the primary education sub-sector.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh had earlier addressed the Head teachers and stated that primary education must be got right in order to lay a solid foundation for further academic endeavors.
Prof. Chuma-Udeh who restated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to the objective, charged the headteachers to be alive to their responsibilities, urging them to bring back those school programmes capable of returning the children to nature. They include the beautification of school environment with flowers.
Commissioner Chuma-Udeh also requested Head teachers to inculcate ethics and morality in the children urging them to continually pray with the children. The Commissioner directed that morning assembly must be conducted every morning, where a teacher is assigned to give very brief words of admonition before the day’s academic activities.
