OGUGUA COMMENDS PRINCIPALS, TEACHERS FOR ALIGNING WITH SOLUDO’S DIGITAL EDUCATION AGENDA - Anambra Ministry of Education

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, has commended principals and teachers for aligning with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s digital education transformation agenda, describing them as critical drivers of the initiative.

Ogugua gave the commendation at the 2026 Annual Principals’ Retreat, organised by the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC), Anambra State, at the Archbishop Obiefuna Pastoral Centre, Okpuno.

The retreat, themed “Leading with Purpose, Shaping the Future of Education in Anambra State,” brought together principals and education stakeholders to deliberate on the future of education in the state.

The Commissioner stressed that teachers remain the primary drivers of the digital transformation, noting that the state cannot effectively move the agenda forward without their embrace of the digital revolution in education.

He disclosed that plans were underway for the domestication of the curriculum, strengthening of quality assurance and control in schools, as well as continuous training for teachers to keep pace with emerging technologies.

Ogugua said the objective was to equip learners with the skills required to compete favorably with their counterparts globally, while assuring teachers that their welfare was also receiving due attention.

He further disclosed that plans were in motion for the rollout of the Anambra State Education Management Information System (ANEMIS), a unified data management system designed to enhance data collection, planning, e-learning, school administration and management.

In her opening address, the Executive Secretary of PPSSC, Hon. Benedine Anagor, expressed optimism that principals would return to their schools inspired and better equipped to motivate teachers, inspire learners and provide purposeful leadership.

Resource persons at the retreat included the Head of Service, Barr. Ngozi Iwunoh; Chairman, ASUBEB, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu; HRH Igwe Nnamenyi III of Awkuzu; Prof. Charles Anikwenze, among others.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of trophies and cash awards to the best-performing education

zones, with Onitsha Education Zone emerging first and Aguta Education Zone second.
