‎As part of activities marking the Governor’s birthday, the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, paid tribute to Prof. Soludo, describing him as a visionary leader whose far-reaching reforms have reshaped the education sector and created greater opportunities for children across the state.

‎Dr. Ogugua stated that the Governor’s introduction of free education for both indigenes and non-indigenes from nursery to senior secondary school has contributed to a significant rise in enrolment in public schools, making quality education more accessible to thousands of families.

‎He explained that the recruitment of over 8,000 teachers has improved teaching and learning outcomes, while the transformation of 22 public schools into Smart Schools, fitted with computers, smart boards, and internet facilities, has strengthened digital education and placed Anambra among states championing technology-driven learning.

‎The commissioner further noted that the establishment of modern STEM laboratories in over 60 secondary schools, alongside the ongoing digital transformation of the education system, has equipped students with relevant skills required for a rapidly changing technological world.

‎He added that the administration’s commitment to inclusive education is evident through the provision of Braille materials, talking computers, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices for learners with special needs, ensuring that every child has access to learning opportunities.

‎Dr. Ogugua also highlighted the continued success of the Free School Boat Scheme, which has sustained access to education for children in riverine communities of Anambra East, Anambra West, and Ogbaru Local Government Areas, while the renovation and upgrading of public primary and secondary schools continue across the state.

According to him, the proposed establishment of the Anambra STEM University further demonstrates Governor Soludo’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy and preparing future generations for global competitiveness.

The commissioner described the Governor’s education initiatives as enduring investments in human capital development, noting that the reforms have restored confidence in public education, given families renewed hope, and created a strong foundation for Anambra’s future growth.

He prayed to God to continue to bless Governor Soludo with good health, wisdom, strength, and many more years of purposeful service to Anambra State and humanity as he marks his 66th birthday.
