Madam Commissioner with members of Technical and Vocational Education Training team (TVET) who were in the ministry to brainstorm with the Commissioner on ways to consolidate the progress made so far in the technical education sector.
Receiving the group in her office at State Secretariat Complex, Awka, Prof.Ngozi Chuma Udeh applauded the team on the achievement recorded in the sector while stating that the desire of this administration is to equip every student with practical skills that will make them self sufficient. She assured the team of looking look into their challenges and come up with solutions that will move the sector higher.
Earlier,the leader of the team,Mr Patrick Okeke listed dearth of science and technical teachers as a major challenge facing the sector.
He stated that one of the requirement for technical colleges to be accredited is that the colleges should be equipped with science teachers and appealed to the state government to remedy this deficiency.
Mr Okeke also made known that in order to propel the technical education sector forward they have partnered with Mr Chidi Ayaoke of Great Almac for continuous teacher upgrade through training and seminars.
Mr Okeke assured the Commissioner that they are part of the solution team of “dozie Anambra” and are ever ready to do everything possible to keep the technical colleges moving higher. The highlight of the visit was presentation and unveiling of Mr Governor’s portrait to the ministry by the team.
