See your Job as a Call to Serve Humanity – Education Commissioner

The Commissioner for Education,Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has called on Zonal Education Officers(ZEOs) and Area Education Officers(AEOs) to take their job as a call to serve humanity. The call came during a meeting with the officers at the Ministry’s Conference Hall,State Secretariat, Awka. Prof. Ngozi Chuma -Udeh while appreciating the group for working to improve the education sector was quick to remind them that this a new government with new philosophy. What is permissible in the past is no longer admissible, she stated.

There is need to work with integrity as you are working in one of the most humane sector of civil service. Work with the understanding that every action comes with consequence which can be positive or negative,she stated. Madam Commissioner enjoined officers to desist from making things difficult for people they are called to serve. “Do not compromise your job because of monetary gain, she charged.
“Education is a noble profession. There are certain things you should not get yourselves involved in. The job calls for integrity and certain acts should not be seen in the corridors of education.”
We are role models,our children are watching and imbibing our behaviors, she added.

“Strive to work in such a way that posterity will judge you right. In her remarks,the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry,Barr. Mrs.Nwando Obiano stated, “for change to be effective,it has to start with individuals deciding to do things the right way”. “In our small cubicles and spheres of life , let’s start effecting the change we want before looking to the government. Endeavor to carry yourself with dignity because the job you are doing is of high repute, she stated.

Reacting, the Director of Schools,Mrs Chioma Unachukwu assured Madam Commissioner of unalloyed support to her administration while pledging that officers would toe the line of integrity as regard their duties.
