Government to give Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu, a facelift: Commissioner of Education

The Commissioner for Education, Prof.Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has assured the governing council, Anambra State Polytechnic,Mgbakwu of government’s resolve to give the Polytechnic a facelift in line with standard befitting a higher Institution.

The Commissioner said this while addressing the Institution’s Governing Council at the State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area. The Commissioner who expressed dismay over the general outlook of the Institution, said that a lot was expected from a state Institution.

She called for cooperation among the governing council to move the Institution forward,adding that much would be achieved through dialogue devoid of rancor or bitterness. Prof.Ngozi Chume-Udeh urged the governing body to ensure that decisions reached at council were for the good of the Institution. She urged the Council to collaborate with the Rector to move the institution to enviable heights.

In her address,the Rector of the School, Dr Nneka Mefor, disclosed that the Polythenic despite having made giant strides since inception has challenges. She called the present administration attention to harmonization of staff salaries, provision of infrastructures, as some of issues bothering the Institution. In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of the Council, Prof. Ifedioranma Eugene-Mary Nwana noted that an appointment as a commissioner is a call for sacrifical service.

He urged the Commissioner to take her appointment as an opportunity to serve the state and leave positive imprints for the general welfare of the state and for posterity.
