Commissioner for Education ,Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has warned against individuals encroaching on lands ceded to schools by communities. The Commissioner made this known when she met with the Provost and Principal Officers of Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Anambra East Local Government, Area.
The Commissioner speaking at the College frowned at the rate individuals encroached on land given to government for educational purposes,going as far as erecting structures on it.
She disclosed that Governor Chukwma Soludo’s led administration will not condone such acts,adding that defaulters should be ready to forfeit land and structures erected to schools.
She called on schools to ensure that perimeter fencing round their schools are intact to serve as a deterrent to such nefarious acts.
Earlier, the Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education,Dr.Ifeyinwa Osegbo,while welcoming the Commissioner listed land encroachment by individuals as one of the challenges the Institution is battling with.
Present at the visit were the Commissioner of Women Affairs,Mrs Ify Obinabo and the Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Education, Barr.Mrs.Nwando Obiano
