Commissioner for Education calls for attitudinal change over maintenance of government property, sanitation and approach to work

Prof Ngozi Chuma – Udeh,Commissioner for Education has called for attitudinal change over maintenance of government infrastructures, sanitation and approach to work in the state.
The Commissioner made this known during an impromptu visit to Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, (ASUBEB). The Commissioner who decried the state of infrastructure and general outlook of the complex, stated it is a shadow of its former self.

Speaking, Prof Ngozi Chuma -Udeh called on workers to desist from the habit of treating government property as nobody’s. The responsibility of maintaining infrastructure provided by the government is the collective responsibility of workers and the state,leaving it for government alone is what has brought about the deplorable state of most infrastructures in the state, she added.
She enjoined the management of the board to do the little they can in ensuring that property in their care are in good condition through cultivation of good sanitation habit and periodic repairs.

The Commissioner who expressed her displeasure at the absence of officers from duty post stressed the fact that this goes against civil service rule, especially during official hours.
She called on all to live up to the demand of their job,adding that there is need for reorientation on acceptable behavior during office hours. “A situation where officers turn offices to loud discussion platform goes against the ethics of the profession and leaves a sour taste in the mouth, she admonished.

Prof Chuma- Udeh called for a detailed report for renovating the complex to acceptable standard. The Commissioner was conducted round the Board by the Director of Aminstration,Mrs Okoli Nnebechukwu .M. and Director of Accounts,Mrs Nrabalu Oyibo.
