Anambra Government to establish five language academies at Community Education Resource Centre, (CERC) Okpuno.

Anambra State Commissioner for Education,Prof.Ngozi Chuma Udeh has paid a facility inspection visit to Community Education Resource Centre,(CERC),Okpuno in preparation for the establishment of five language academies at the Centre. Prof.Ngozi Chuma Udeh, speaking during the visit at the centre disclosed that the language academies will be for Igbo ,French, Dutch, Spanish and Chinese languages.

“The purpose of establishing these five academies is to train people who will fit comfortably into foreign language society without difficulty or lack of comprehension in communication.”
It is the desire of the Governor to make Anambra State a stronghold in language teaching and learning sphere,”she enthused. The Commissioner also stated that state will partner with the countries whose language would be taught in order to effectively step it down to Ndi Anambra and others.

The Commissioner assured that the state will utilised the positive nod already offered by the Chinese Confucius Academy and others to make provision for foreign students who are interested in learning Igbo language either as foreign exchange students or tap into the Anambra State Online Igbo language Academy, adding that the state would equip CERC for immediate takeoff of the project.

Reacting,The Desk Officer, Community Education Resource Centre,Mr Chinenye Ulasi assured the Commissioner of the management readiness to work with ministry in actualizing the mandate given by His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludu to the sector.

Highlight of the visit was the arrival of the Deputy Governor of Anambra State,Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim at the centre and was conducted round the facility by the Commissioner of Education,Prof Ngozi Chuma – Udeh.
